Meeting: Medieval Florilegium

When:
Presenter:
Ruth Tait
Description:

From Ruth Tait: I will base my talk both on some of my own researches (eg. my 12 Days of Christmas COVID project) and presentation based on researches from a book, among others, called 'Flowers in Medieval Manuscripts’ by Celia Fisher This will incorporate the work that I’ve done studying medieval design iconography, alongside calligraphy & decoration and the relationship it bears to the study of nature and it’s historical significance--whether stylized or realistic. I speculate on the idea that having a closer understanding of the work of the medieval Guilds manuscript production gives us a particular understanding to today's practices of botanical art and plant-based aesthetic focus.
